Description
The Media Library Assistant plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to PHP Object Injection in all versions up to, and including, 3.43, due to post meta values that get_metadata() has already unserialized being passed through maybe_unserialize() a second time. This happens for the 'alt_text' data source, which is used by shortcode field-level substitution parameters and by mapping rules, and for hidden meta fields during mapping. WordPress stores a serialized-looking string such as attachment alt text serialized a second time, so the string comes back intact and is then unserialized. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers with author-level access and above, who can set the alt text of their own attachments, to inject a PHP object. No known POP chain is present in the plugin itself. If a POP chain is present via an additional plugin or theme, the attacker may be able to delete arbitrary files, retrieve sensitive data, or execute code.
